I noticed a lot of talent and creative art in Frameworks and the Machine. I absolutely enjoy watching this band play now. I have seen the movie “Drum line” and it is a real deal. This is a real thing and it takes a lot of practice and dedication for this to happen. This marching band won several championships and I believe all of them are either 3 peats or more. The thing that I noticed and never knew was how long they did this for. It’s about and around ten minutes. In order to do that for ten minutes holding an instrument and remembering the choreography is extremely hard. They also show a lot of their energy while playing which is also very hard. This takes a lot of stamina and concentration. I mean its nothing compared to any contact sport. They probably spend more time than the football team practices. I mean they run through the routine probably over five hundred times full out in order to get all those things right. It is even harder to even play an instrument and walk around the field remembering their spots and where they are. I assume they do not or never look down to see where they are on the field. Its muscle and mind memory and discipline all put together. It’s absolutely amazing. To me this is calmer competition. They way they present it were not as much as I expected. I watched the Southern Heritage halftime show this weekend and I absolutely enjoyed it. They way they sent out the energy to the crowd were phenomenal. I was impressed by their energy and their execution. In Frameworks, what impressed me the most was the faster and more intense choreography they had. The spins and the maelstrom in fast tempo they performed at are hard and add difficulty points to their score sheets. In the Machine, what I like about it is the big wave like movement they had. They all were undulating.
ReplyDelete1. Although the performance was done by a drum corps instead of stage actors, the same amount of coordination and memorization is needed if not more. What makes performing bands and drum corps more difficult than a stage performance is that they have more movement to know as well as the fact that the entire field is the stage instead of a small area. The Cavaliers have a strong reputation for stiff precise movement and the power of their music is a testament to an outstanding performance.

Performing as a drum corps is difficult, especially with the Cavaliers since their precise nature and stiff movements have given them the nickname ‘The Green Machine.’ A massive amount of stamina and memory is needed in order to remember every motion and every cue that makes up a great performance (I also couldn’t help but notice that they didn’t have their music attached to their instruments like our pep band does at games).
3. An extreme amount of dedication and an insurmountable amount of time is required to make a performance as well as these. Many people respect and admire others who have such a love for something they do. Their uniforms, motions, and movements help to make live band performances look and feel like a stage performance.
4. The most appealing part of Frameworks was the precision of their movements and their sound. Whereas The Machine has an impressive rifle-play show as well as flag tosses.

I totally agree with you about how dedicated the Cavaliers are and I think it sounds about right that they practice a whole lot more than any sport out there! I can't imagine memorizing music, motions, and time cues for a ten minute performance!
1) just because this performance is not done on a stage with lines and makeup, there are still many elements to this performance that suggest it is am artistic beauty. one thing i noticed right away was the intricate costumes that the band had on, which added a visual effect to the proformance. Another thing that I noticed was the movements done and the tight coreography. It added a very high theatrical aspect to the viewing. the sound was also beautiful and together as if it was an actor that nailed his lines.
ReplyDelete2)These acts are challenging for many reasons. the first is that they have to learn the music, this music is not simple to learn and memorize, but they play it to perfection. Another aspect that would create a challange is the coreography. the preformers must memorise every step and formation they make whild playing the correct music, this would be a challange.
3)the dedication level that had to be put in by each and every individual must have been enormous. It is just like and actor, they must spend countless hours practicing and remembering what to do and hopeing not to mess up. People can connect with this, because if it is something that intrest someone, then they will persue it and work very hard to reach that goal, just as these performers did.
4)the element of framework that most stands out to me is the Cavaliers movements that they make. they are so intricate, but yet so persice. I t would be very hard to immitate these moves to perfection, but the cavaliers have seemed to do thins. i machine, the movements along with the complements of the almost classical movement adds a very nice visual element. This is a very hard thing to do and must be practiced.
First of all, I did not know that these shows were so well done. The performers were so perfect, that it almost didn't look human. There is so much movement and emotion in these performances. There is not much room for error, and you have to be quick on you're feet at all times. I see a lot of chemistry in these performances. The performers move well with each other, and really can rely on their fellow members to not mess up. The music makes the emotions and movements. Whatever emotions the music is showing, reflects on the band members.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many aspects that make these performances challenging. First, you have to be fit enough to make it through an intense 10 minute show, while moving everywhere. Second, you have to be able to hold you're instrument while doing many actions. Third, you have to be able to remember where you're going. There are a lot of members out there, and one little mistake can cost the whole band.
All the energy and dedication and hours of practice that was involved is unbelievable. Some people can connect to these performances, because it is so out of the ordinary, and you don't see this kind of stuff everyday. Nature is shown throughout these performances. There are many different colors, designs, actions, movements and emotions all throughout.
What stands out most to me is the absolute preciseness and perfection that goes into one of these things. With that many people, there is so many different things that can go wrong. The flag tosses stood out the most because they really caught my eye.

ReplyDeleteI agree that there are many different elements that go on. I agree that they are very challenging. Yes, there is much dedication that goes into this.
1) Not only people who act on stages have theatrical elements. The band in these videos obviously include theatrical elements. These could include their choreography which showed the physical and mental emotions of the music they were playing, the costumes that they used, and also the sound of the instruments can show the feelings of what the music is portraying.
ReplyDelete2) It is extremely hard to memorize anything that takes nearly ten minutes to perform. These people not only have to memorize the music and all its notes but also have to memorize the steps and the choreography that they incorporate into their shows. I think that it would be extremely difficult to memorize all of this and then perform it flawlessly as they appeared to do.
3) You have to dedicate yourself to doing this in order to succeed and remember all the steps. I think the "glamour" of these performances appeal to people that like theatre and drama. The costumes and the moves that the people not only without instruments did but also the ones that the people with instruments did were very interesting. They could appeal to someone who likes theatre because they are corresponding with the music to show a story.
4) In frameworks I really liked the shapes that they showed and they seemed to move the whole time. In The Machine I liked the costumes, especially the ones that the baton guys were wearing that were blue.

I agree that these people had to work really hard and that they must have a lot of talent in order to make the movements, sounds, and costumes correspond in order to portray exactly what they are trying to show.
There are many theatrical elements that are incorporated in these performances. For one the director has to teach each and every single person where to go and what actions they must do while they are play their instrument, in a huge band. I mean that is a lot of people. Each person also needs to remember every single action and every single note they are playing. With everything that each player is doing, some can say it takes more practice than most actors. Each of these performers have to not only remember each note and each step they take, they also must have the strength to hold up their instruments and be able to walk around, and play good, which most times having to blow into the instrument. I mean you could get out of breath really fast doing all of the things they must do. The energy they put in must be incredible. In order to just have the determination to do all of this they must keep a high sense of energy and enthusiasm in order to just function during the performance. Obviously these players invest many hours of practice in order to perform this well without error.

ReplyDeleteYes, I do totally agree with you in how they are dedicated to their sport and how much time they spend trying to remember probably seventy five 8 counts to cue their motions and placement.
I thought that the unique thing about this performance was how all the drummers in the drum line kept perfectly in step with each other as they played. Though they may not be performing on a stage it still counts as a form of theater, and in my opinion it takes more skill to stay so perfectly in line while playing an instrument then to act. Overall their ability to move as one makes them amazing to watch in action.
ReplyDeleteIt’s really challenging because every person in the band has to move in a perfect way to stay in line with the other members. If one person messes up it hurts the entire performance because they are supposed to move as one. Also the people who are carrying the tubas and big drums have to have a lot of stamina and strength because those instruments are not light.
Someone who wants to play with the cavaliers has to have tremendous dedication to their instrument and learning the movements because if you want to play with the best you need to be the best. I think that this sort of theater is so popular because it is a form of music and beauty that not many people can be a part of. Also the patterns and costumes play a large role because they get across the emotion and energy to people watching.
In Frameworks I enjoyed the beat and melody the most out of all because the performance was not as exciting as The Machine. In The Machine I enjoyed the fast paced movements and the robotic theme they used to go along with the music because from far away it looked amazing how in sync the musicians were each other.

I agree with max that this type of skill takes a lot of time and practice which makes it amazing to watch in action. I also have seen the “drum line” and it is the real deal.
1. In these works, the first thing I notice is the pagentry. The people are dressed up like a army. They are ussually moving and if they are not moving thier instruments are. The people moving together move in unison and at the same time. This is very hard to do. Also thier is a lot of preperation that takes place. Thier instruments are all playing together at the right pace. I did not notice any wrong doing.
ReplyDelete2. These performences are very hard to duplicate. There was a lot of work done prior to the performance and that is what mskes them memorable. Each person must hold thier instruments and some of them are very heavy. They all must remember what to do at every given moment. It would be very hard to remember these things while thier is so much going on around you.
3.There is a lot of amount of dedication in this. They practiced for months in advance just to put this show together. Many people connect to this because of the spectacle. Anyone watching can connect to it in some way. This is so theactical because of everything happening like it is supposed to. If one person messes up, everyone could potientally mess up as well. The patterns are great. This is what makes it so spectacluar. The colors present a sense of a team like theater is. This show is greatly organized. Many people may overlook that as thier is so many things going on.
4.What stands out to me in frameworks is the music and the movement. Everyone is doing thier fair share and then some. People begin moving and the whole entire picture looks like ants in buisness mode. The movement in the machine stands out greater to me. Rarely is thier a part in this video where people are not moving.
Response to Kime: I agree with you about the drummers. It is not just the drummers though. The entire show was chereographed to perfection. Massive amounts of preperation where put into affect here. The drummers move continusly in unison and that is one aspect of the show that makes it spectacular.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you Frameworks was done really good and has some awesome moves it's crazy. And the rifle and flag show in Machine is awesome.
When I watched these videos I was amused and very surprised. I have never seen performances by a band like this before. There is movement, body, and pretty much everything about theatre in it. The one that impressed me the most was the movement it was unreal. It was really cool how they moved without hitting anybody or messing up. The thing that makes these works so hard having to remember where you go and when you have to play your instrument. Also stamina is challenging to this to because you have to be able to hold yourself up and play your instrument without getting tired. The dedication and energy is unreal you spend every night and every day trying to remember and practice and when time comes for you to do it you do it all right. Some many people connect with it because it is amusing and cool to watch if you actually understand it and it is also interesting. Color is present, patterns are present to because they move a lot during the performances and it is so cool how they do that. It’s also organized very good it is difficult to organize something this amazing because it is hard to do. The elements of Frameworks I like the most is the patterns and the way they move around with out tripping someone and it’s just really good and the way they use their instruments to talk is amazing is cool. The Machine the parts I like the most are the ones with the rifle and the flag show its really awesome how people do that.
ReplyDeleteIn these performances I see acting and memorization like any person on stage would have to go through. The performers had to learn all the steps, notes, where to walk and when, and how not to hurt eat other. The movements that they learned were complimentary to the music that they played. This sort of performance is hard on all people, because you have to build up strength to carry your instrument around, you have to be able to run to get into place, and you have to have to just keep going if you hurt yourself. You aren’t sure if things are necessarily in the right place, you just have to trust the coaches and leaders to put you in the right direction. With this type of performance you have to be completely and utterly devoted. If you have any adverse feelings to the things you do, it could mess the whole image up. This sort of thing is theatrical by nature because it is the image that your mind creates due to the forms that the artists make. They work together so that they can make something that is aesthetically pleasing to people, and that really paints a picture of what is being imitated. The part of Frameworks that stood out for me was the constant moving and changing of shapes, until they finally became like a frame. In the Machine, the part that really stood out for me was the difference between the men and the machines, then how they all became a large machine moving and bending together.

I agree that the machine seemed more in sync and more visually impressive. Also of course it was more of a performance that had to do with the unity and clockwork timings of a machine.
1) At the six minute mark the first thing I notice is the band members dressed up as the army and chanting. I did not expect that from a collegiate band. It probably took a good bit of practice to master the movements correctly. The band members uniforms are not the best looking because light green is not a favorite color in my opinion.
ReplyDelete2) What I think makes the movement challenging is the possibility of running into another band member and screwing the whole song up. Another hard part would be to get every band member to have the same posture and moving speed. Stamina wise I do not think it would take that much stamina because when I have gone to college football games there are some overweight people who have no problem.
3) You have to have a pretty good dedication to do such a good job like this band did. You have to have a great desire to to well in order to succeed in a musical band like this. A member in this band would have to have a strong memory of where to move while playing the right notes at the same time. The members show pattern and color when they performed. The organization had to be perfect in order for the song to turn out well.
4) The elements of Framework that stand out the most to me is the band members' confidence and perfection when they were moving while playing their instrument. I do not know of another band that could have done the job better than these guys. The element of the Machine that stood out the most to me was the constant movement. They never stopped moving around.

The band members definitely had to put a good amount of hard work and effort into the songs. I totally agree with your statements.
There are many elements that go into this performance. First you must memorize the steps and where to be at all times because you are moving constantly. I just can't believe how the band members don't bump into each other when they are moving. Also how they can move that quickly holding the instruments. I think there is a lot of time that goes into doing a performance like that. You must be hard working and strong and in shape to move like that so quickly. I bet it takes months to learn a performance so quick and precise. I thought in the part in The Machine where the robots were getting close to the band and then get slingshotted out was really cool. It takes a lot of time and chemistry with the other person to do something like that. In Frameworks the part that stood out for me was just how the band moved as a whole unit. the way they knew how every other person moved was amazing. That takes a lot of hard work and practice to do. It reminded me of a good football play how every part of the offense works so fluid in motion to have a great result. The performances were almost like little plays they had characters and parts where the people ask "whats gonna happen next." These performances take a lot of time and hard work but I can see why The Cavaliers have won so many championships.

I agree that they could have fell and that would have ruined the whole performance. i also think stamina has a big part to play in these performances. The band members could get tired quickly and that could make the performance bad.
1)There are a lot of theatrical elements present in both of these works. This is definitely a form of acting. The people have to remember exactly what to play, where to go, how to move, and when to do all of it. Also, they are all wearing costumes. The acting is more present in the second one "the machine" especially at the beginning when the guy walks like he's drunk and pushes everyone else backwards.Then they chase him back and, from a birds eye view, it looks almost like they are imitating a slingshot.

First of all they have to memorize the music they have to play and then they have to memorize the actions that they are expected to perform. On top of these things, they have to put it all together in front of a huge audience. The memorizing that they must have to do seems like it would be overwhelming and they probably spend every bit of their time practicing (I hope it pays well).
3)The dedication in these performances must me major. I know that I could practice every day for a year and still not do as well as these guys do. The amazing part is not so much in the music as it is in the action. The audience, from a bird's-eye view can see the gracefulness and precision of every step and tell how much work goes into something like this.The patterns formed by the moving figures make a great "spectacle" and it is "dramatic" to watch.
4)I believe the most outstanding thing about "framework" and about "the machine" is the movement. It is always precisely perfect. If it were not, the whole thing would be messed up. That is why these people probably practice 24/7.

Yes the movement did seem unreal and it was unbelievable that there were no collisions or mistakes. I don't think I could ever do something like this unless I dedicated my whole life to it.

ReplyDelete1. I found both performances to be amazing; I was shocked at what the Cavaliers are able to do on a consistent basis. The combination of memorized movements and the accompanying music is a wonderful form of art, as are the costumes and acting involved. The main theatrical element present is a tool most commonly used by actors on stage - positioning. It is very likely that the Cavaliers base their movements on certain position areas of the field; for example, one group must stay within area B, whereas another must move from area A to area F in a swift motion, and so forth.
ReplyDelete2. In a sense, the works presented are almost like football, minus the contact and muscle. The band members must memorize their positions on the field at a particular time, just as football players memorize their respective positions according to the play in the playbook. The band members must be physically fit; it may look as if the movements are "effortless" and "simply walking," but it takes much stamina to hold up a heavy instrument for at least ten minutes while constantly moving your feet. Finally, much concentration is involved while playing the instrument and moving the feet simultaneously; the same goes for football, as a player must maintain focus while running an assigned route and trying to make/break up a play simultaneously.
3. It must take a large amount of time to achieve perfection, as did the Cavaliers, for this kind of performance. The band members practice with the mindset that if one person makes a mistake, a domino effect happens - everyone else messes up. Some find themselves attached to this particular kind of art because of the emotions portrayed by the combination of the music and movements. Fast movements accompanied with loud, brash music portray anger; slow, precise movements accompanied by soft, gentle music portray feelings of tranquility and happiness.
4. The most unique element of "Frameworks" was the scene in which the band members carefully weave in and out of each other, like two snakes side by side heading in opposite directions. "The Machine" stood out as a whole due to its constant movement.

ReplyDeleteApparently, you realize that much practice and dedication is necessary in order to achieve perfection, as did the Cavaliers. You seem to be absolutely blown away by the performances, which says that you appreciate this form of art. I though the entireties of both performances were phenomenal as well; the amount of memorization (keep in mind, they have to memorize the MUSIC as well).... wow.
1. There are many theatrical elments at play in these two peformances. They use flags, drums, guns, instruments, and uniforms to get their point across. It also adds effect. All of the people act as one big peformance. For example in the second video "Machine", there are many references to machines. The music sounds like clockwork, and the people move as moving parts. This is very similar to acting, in which people do different things to portray certain things to the audience. The Cavaliers put it all together with the theatrical elements.
ReplyDelete2. There are many physical and mental elements to those peformances. It is looked harder than most sports. If you are second too late or too soon, you end up messing up the whole peformance. It must take hours of conditioning and mental preparation for a peformance like that. I bet thos people can run throught the whole song visually. Like they can run through it in thier mind. They are way more disciplined than any other football or basketball team I have ever seen. It takes great skill to be in theater.
3. Great amounts of energy and dedication are used in theatrical peformances like this one. It is really easy to connect to a performance like this viscerally. It brings out emotion, for example the announcer was extrememly impressed by it. There are many elements that create speculaion and drama. I like to guess what cool shape they will make next. There is also a begining, middle, climax, and ending to each peformance.
4. Frameworks had a flowing effect to the music and the movements. Everything was limpid and loose, but precise. It was wuite calming. The Machine was rigid and precise. The music sounded like moving parts and the people moved like moving parts. It was very interesting.

ReplyDeleteI agree that the peformers have to work 24/7. They have to make great sacrifices to do this. It takes hard work practice and dedication.
In Both videos, each show the watcher elements of theatre.In both "the machine" and also Frameworks i can see the members of the band acting out their performances amusing the crowd , and getting the crowd invovled. There is also alot of energy ,also alot of choryography and movements. These is very abnormal to me I no a performance like this took time and dedication and also alot of memerization to make the performance what it is.

Stamina plays a big role in their performance just think if one group or even one person became tired in the performance something would be out of order but i think memory is the biggest of them all if you cant remember then there would be a horrible performance.
3. huge amounts of dedication and energy is required for this kind of performance like i said earlier if energy is low the performance would be sub-par. Truely and honestly i dont know why people like Mr. Williams like this maybe because its abnormal from what you think a band is supposed to do.?? From the music to the movements and dances they all portrait theatre as if it was on stage. some other things are the crowd and thier feedback and also the actors.
4. In framework some things that stood out were the movements when the camera was zoomed out with the different shapes and such. in machine what stood out were the military band members that was out the norm they both were good in my opinion.
Response to shaun ryan: I agree that this takes a lot of memorization and high energy.
1. I see most of all alot of musical talent. It takes alot of hard work and dedication to learn how to an instrument in the first place. On top of that learning how to play an insrtument while moving around in an artful movement is quite an amazing thing to do. When they showed a close up of one of the members faces I could see the concentration and dedication in his eyes, he was ready to do work. They used the music to speak instead of words, they used body movemants to portray their emotioins.
ReplyDelete2.Blowing into an instrument takes alot of energy, doing it while moving very fast takes even more energy. Trying to play an instrument while moving in such an artful way and remebering the the notes and remember the steps takes alot of brain power and talent.
3. You have to really love playing music to do all this, it takes months and months to learn how to do all this, that is why I don't do anything near as hard as that. This is so theatrical because of the movement and dance mixed with the music.
4. The shapes and movement they do when they move around it's fun to watch what they make.
The first thing I noticed about this is the unity that the whole band shared with one another. This is not just a certain area of instruments, but the whole band. They use flags, instruments, guns, and uniforms to become as one and make their point apparent. In the second video, “Machine”, there are many different people doing one thing to make a noise that sounds like a clock or just clock work.
ReplyDeletePerformances like these make it very difficult because they are only as strong as there weakest link, and to have a successful performance there cannot be any weak links. This means that everyone has to be in the same physical shape, make the allotted steps they are supposed to, go together at the same time, and just sound good in general.
There is a lot of dedication for a whole group and for the individual in this, and that is why people like you love it. It would not be as good if there was only one person doing it all because if he makes a mistake it only makes him look bad; however in this if one person makes a mistake the whole band looks bad. There are other patterns to add to this like the color of their uniforms, and stuff like that.
In Framework, things that stuck out to me were the movements the band was making and how eloquently they were making them. In the Machine, what stood out to me was how precise and accurate everything was.

1. In this performance I see dancing, playing instruments and a lot of people dancing with battons.
ReplyDelete2.If you want to do this kind of performing you have to have a lot of stamina. You are running around and playing an instrument at the same time.
3. If you want to be good at it you have to dedicate yourself 24/7 to it. You can't take a day off because they probably learn new stuff everyday. And that one day you don't show up you could mess up and cost them a competition.I think most people are attracted to it because not everyone could do what they do. And it also reminds people of football season.
4. They make their symbol and they also make different shapes to catch peoples attention.
Both performances by the Cavaliers were amamzing. What they did was very consistent. The postions that they had to be in were greatly performed. Also the music was outstanding and had a great rhythm. A theatrical element used in the performances was movement. If an actor does not have good movement they will not have a good performance. The Cavs did a great job of moving around.
ReplyDeleteThe members of the band proabably work as hard or harder than any other team. They must memorize tons of notes, songs, and routines. Stanima plays a huge factor into the performances. Each member is carrying around a large instrument, playing it, and moving around all the time.
The Cavs were perfect with the performance. I bet it took hours and long practices to make it perfect, just as they did. If one person messes up anoter one will and so on. So since the performance is so advanced they have to put tons of hard work into making it turnout corrct. Many people are connected to this because it makes them happy and are comfortable at what they are doing.
The element that stood out to me in Frameworks was the weving through one another. In The Machine the constint moving was very entertaining.

1. I see a lot of theatrical elements present in the two videos. I have seen many marching bands in my lifetime-none like that. As far as body and movement goes they are all moving at the same time and in the same motions, which is incredibly difficult and requires hours upon hours of practice. Like many other marching bands, they present a symbol or "sign" that the audience can see from the stands. That also takes alot of practice and patience for all of the right movements to take place. Plus, the fact that they are playing an instrument while they are trying to remember when to line up behind who and where to go.
ReplyDelete2. Everything about that is hard. The amount of energy that it takes to play an instrument is incredible by itself. There must be a million things running through those peoples mind. They have to remember all of the notes and what to play on their instruments, but then again they also have to remember all of the stuff that has been choreographed as far as placement, etc goes. There would have to be an incredible amount of practice, because there is no way they could be doing all of those things at once without some of them being second nature.
3. I can definately see where someone would connect to that viscerally if you love music and acting. It is very much like a play or theatre, becuase you are in front of an audience doing something that has been scripted or rehearsed for a very long time. There are alot of elements that are in a marching band, for example, the colors they wear are usually the schools colors that they are representing, but they also help provide an edge to the formations they make and the signs, etc that are formed.
4. The element of Frameworks that impressed me the most was the speed at which all of the actors moved. It was amazing how fast the actors could move while still playing their instrument at kind of a mellow tone. The element that impressed me the most in The Machine was the baton twirlers and the gymnasts. It seems like they were more involved in this video than in the other video. It adds a nice touch to the meaning and validity of the performance.

I agree with you about the amount of energy it takes to play an instrument, yet alone be able to remember all of the movements that have been choreographed for you to do.
I thought this was a great performance; The Cavaliers did an amazing job of keeping in line and making all of their steps. It was amazing how well they could remember what to do and where to go, as well as have enough stamina to do a ten minute performance. The way they keep in line looks awesome because it made great formations and designs.

The people in this band have to be in great physical shape because they are carrying a instrument the whole time and they are actually walking a great distance which gets old after a while, and they have to remember to play their instrument.
An extreme dedication is involve in something like this, they most likely have to practice all the time and the practices can not be easy. And they even have to practice when they are not practicing, and that is in playing their instrument. I liked the flags and sudden movement the most in framework, and in The Machine I like how they did so many risky maneuvers, one thing could have destroyed the performance completely.

ReplyDeleteI have never seen a band so well prepared and dedicated to these amazing performances. The Cavaliers performed "Frameworks". The band dressed up in costumes that looked like the old cavaliers and it definitely played into the song. The setting and the movement of the band made me imagine if they were performing in a real play. Even though the band performed on a football field, the Cavaliers created scenery that was a theatrical element to me. The movement was a theatrical element and the drummers and trumpeters kept a perfect balance to move and to continue to play their instruments. The choreography at the end surprised me when the Cavaliers got in a circle and started to dance together. The members who carried the flags interacted with the tone of the music. In "The Machine", I really loved the consistency of the Cavaliers. playing the right beats and moving in the same direction. The visual paintings have been a fine transition to the Cavaliers. I can see their expressions and all of their movements.
ReplyDeleteThe Cavaliers have to perform this in less than ten minutes and there is a lot to remember. There must be a lot of energy and stamina to keep up with all of the beats and movements. The physicality is so hard to keep at a consistent basis. To combine all of these qualities together is quite an achievement to accomplish.
In order to make this perfect, every member of the band must be dedicated and committed to success. Everyone must help each other and respect everyone enough to succeed. A high energy must be used and it has to be performed at the right level. Many people try to be organized and consistent. That is a good thing and it relates to the Cavaliers. The band is theatrical in nature by making what they perform believable and that the performance is in reality. The show is presented perfect and the colors involved in the costumes really change the complexion of the band. The patterns of movement are very easy to follow and they are very creative. The Cavaliers come well prepared and can put on an entertaining show.
In "Frameworks", the movements and the consistency stood out to me. The Cavaliers really moved around and got interacted within the music and they were perfect with their movements. The band moved in many different shapes and it was really fun to

ReplyDeleteI would have to say that the first things I noticed about this was the unity of the band. The way they all moved in accordance with one another without one of them bumping into another is really amazing in its own. But the way they sort of glided through one another to make these really cool and mind-blowing figures and to put on such a show without any mess-ups is quite intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThe task of performing a show like this would be very difficult because of the memory and stamina that is called for. It must be very difficult to memorize an entire 9 minute long dance step fully. Also, it takes a lot of physical fitness to hold those instruments and walk and run around for so long.
A program like this takes a lot of time and dedication from the participants. I think people connect with it viscerally because its easy flowing on the eyes and creates a kind of wonderment and amazement to the viewer.
In Frameworks, the movements and the fluid motions stuck out the most. In the Machine, the accurateness of the transitions stuck out the most to me. My favorite performance was Machines though.

1)---There are several theatrical elements in these performances. They include order and structure. Everything in them goes exactly to a set plan or script. They have specific costumes for the different roles and they each portray a different aspect of what the person is doing. Instead of talking, these performers use body language and their instruments. They use the instrument to make sounds associated with the action taking place. The make a group of single persons into one thing, a single body. They each move exactly as they are supposed to to make it look right. They are able to give the impression of a single shape or group of shapes continually changing form. They use flags and rifles to create visual effects that can increase the size of the group of make it seem to move in ways it is not. All this time, the instruments accompany the movement and guide it along, always illustrating what is happening in sound. They portray what is supposed to be going on with movement and music instead of words.
ReplyDelete2)These works are challenging in regard to stamina because it involves almost constantly moving quickly and correctly around the field while also playing an instrument. you have to be able to play for that long as well as focusing on movement and not run out of breath or fall down. It involves physicality because it involves being able to move quickly, efficiently, and well. You have to be able to maintain posture and such while marching forward, backward, and every other -ward there is. They must also be able to remember all of the music, movement, stops and starts as well as paying attention to the conductor. This takes incredible skills in memorization. They cannot misstep even once or they risk running into someone and causing the entire thing to collapse around them. They have to maintain constant focus on everything around them so that if someone does mess up, everyone else adjusts to save the program.
3)Immense dedication and energy has to be put into something like this to make it work. You must practice the music and movement almost constantly to get it exactly right. Some people can get this kind of thing easily because it is orderly. If someone is an orderly type of person, then they will be able to visualize doing this easily. They will be able to understand when they need to cross in between two people walking at top speed because it is all in a specific place. Many people also connect to this type of thing because they have an aptitude for working with others, or they find it natural. It seems so fluid and natural when you watch it that many people can get absorbed in it easily. it is like watching a stream flow over perfectly formed rocks. It is intriguing.
3b)Another element that add to these feelings might be the actions of the musicians. Not only do they play their instrument, but they o almost as much physical acting as the acrobatic flag, baton, or rifle twirlers.
4)The most noticeable factor in Frameworks was the geometry. I noticed a lot of triangular forms. Triangles are one of the most fundamental of all shapes; you can make any other shape out of enough of the right type of triangle. There is a whole lot of symmetry involved. It is very orderly and flowing, but it is not random. there are often two groups doing the EXACT same thing. They also return to similar shapes throughout the course of the performance. This is noticeably to me because I often pick out geometry in things.
4b)In The Machine, the most noticeable part was the movement of the people. they were almost all using a robotic sort or movement with deliberate, but not necessarily jerky. they are all moving in relation to each other. They rarely move without another counterpart moving as well. This is noticeable because they are making it so. It is one of the biggest factors of their performance and they want to make it known.

ReplyDeleteThat is really the first thing I noticed as well, the band was always a single unit, I totally agree. You are right that it would take a lot of endurance and strength, I had forgotten that those instruments are really heavy as well. It most likely takes them way longer than any of us have ever studied for anything to be able to get that right. I like machines as well.
During the band performance the way each individual moved together, perfectly, to form the theatrical elements was cool. Also, the way the performance kept changing music, tempo, and also motions was interesting. The amount of time spent to do this would be enormous, but in order to do it right each person would have to be at the perfect right spot at the exact same time and do the exact same move as the next person. For instance, when the people threw the fake guns in the air and each person caught them exactly like the person before, that showed an extreme amount of focus and poise. Also, the costumes that the performers wear is also very important because it makes the show more unique and realistic. Another thing that stood out to me was the number of instruments and sounds that were made during the shows. Not only the instruments themselves, but also the way they were able to switch the tone and tempo.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of stamina and physicality, I don't think that you would need to be all that enhanced in order to perform these acts. Of course there is always some form of physicality that plays into it, but I think the most difficult part of this performance is the memorization. That band performance went on for seven minutes, and the band never once stopped moving, there were so many steps and actions involved in processing this work.
The amount of dedication that is put into these projects is ridiculous. Each step has to be perfected, each movement has to be on point. So, in order to make sure that this is perfected the director must put countless hours into practicing. I think alot of people are intrigued by these types of performances because it is cool to see how all of these people, sounds, and formations are able to come together and form something that not many people are able to do. I think the thing that impressed me the most was the formations and the ways the members would come together to form a spectacular movement and motion. It is cool to see the different, unique, things that people were able to accomplish just by having one person be in one spot followed by another person and so on and so forth.
I thought it was cool how the Frameworks were able to throw something perfectly in the air and catch it just like the person previous to them. Also I like how the Machine came out to be a perfect performance because one wrong move by one person could ruin everything.

I agree about the Machine and also The Framework. One thing could have destroyed the entire performance completely.
The theatrical elements are lots of chorography, dancing, guys doing robots moves it's very entertaining. The musicians when they are moving from place to place you see differnt shape turning up. The musicians are expressing themselves through their instruments. They are playing as a body of one notas indivudals. What makes this so challenging is that they have to memorize every step they take and know were to be exactly. If not someone might trip over you causing a huge dusturbance in the performance. The musicians have to be on beat and count how many steps to take in which direction, can get pretty confusing. The dedication had to been eminence maybe even 3 hours a day of just memorizing positions. People connect to this becausethey see the amount of dedciation but into a awesome show and thye admire it. It's thetrical because of the differnt symbols used and the things the performers are doing. I think every element of the shows was a drama, spectacle, and theartrical, masterpieces. The "frameworks" stood out most to me in minutes 2:34-3:30 when theyy formed a square and then unravelled then raveled back up thne unravled again it was very cool. In "the machine" i liked when the guy pushed in the corner of the band and the band pushed him back out like a magnet or a rubberband.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed watching these performances. I thought that they were very good in execution and quality. I feel like the whole movement of all the people was creating images and scenes to describe the theme of the performance. The music worked perfectly to give the powerful effect that the choreography had. It was all very balanced and I think the director of both performances deserves a high five. Both performances displayed visual and audible perfection.
ReplyDeleteThese performances probably took months to rehearse and perfect. All of the complex movement and choreography must have taken forever to practice. All of the people involved in the performances must have great memory. I can’t imagine how many different movements the people had to memorize. It must have also taken a lot of stamina to keep up with the speed at which everyone moved. I think it’s really impressive how it was very hard to spot someone who was behind or off beat.
I feel that there is a lot of planning into the costumes and movements of the individual people to create the aspect of drama. The white hats that they wear really stand out from above and it really contrasts their black outfits. All of their movements seem very dramatic and excessive. It really made for a good performance.
I think that the music in Framework stands out the most for me. It’s very complex and tuned perfectly to the movements of the performers. However, I think the performance in The Machine was the better of the two. It had a lot of complex lines, circles, switching people, movement, and intensity. I think it is amazing how the people could make such straight lines just by standing next to each other. The performance was very impressive to me.
I thought that what was done was great. The Cavaliers might be one of the coolest bands that I have ever seen. I think that it was really cool how they all stayed in step and kept the same and right pace while they played their music. I thought it was awesome how they were weaving around the field while playing their music. I thought what they were doing out there was very different and at the same time also very special.

I think it would also be very physically exhausting to play any of the instruments while staying in constant motion and performing the various tasks that they are doing. This would probably wear anyone out physically and mentally. I think it would mentally wear someone out because they have to remember all of the steps and movements and then perform them at full speed and without mistake.
Something like this would take an enormous amount of dedication that most people most likely do not have and would not have even if they wanted to. I think people connect with this so well because they think it is very cool and constant. This is theatrical in nature because it takes practice and everyone out there is part of one thing and they are all dependent on one another.
The thing I thought was most significant with Framework was the pace of the players in the band. They were moving in a very fast pace while keeping up with playing their music. The Machine was just cool becasue it was an even faster pace than Framework.
1. I saw many theatrical elements in these two works by the Cavaliers. Their swift on time movements makes for an incredible show. Not once did I see that someone was off or had tripped. To move in such an elegant way and not fall once, or even stumble is very impressive to me. These guys must have practiced for hours on end, getting every movement exactly the way the orator wants it to be. They made some very interesting shapes and things out of each individual body, and they were always right where they needed to be at the right time, and that goes back to the endless hours of practice. They look almost unreal in the timing of everything.

The band members are constantly running around and still have the ability to force air out to make the instrument loud enough for someone in the stands to hear; it seems ridiculous to ask. These guys must have amazing lungs and stamina. Some even have to carry drums around them and still make these precise movements, knowing that one false move and the whole thing is ruined. Their memory must be insane because, I'm sure I would forget some vital thing and screw up the entire performance, but then again it goes back to practice, practice, practice.
3. The dedication and energy involved in these performances are unlike anything I have ever seen. I do not thing any sort of dedication will ever break the kind that these guys have. They look like a machine! I think many connect to this thing because it shows really how much effort and time is put into things like this, and not only big things like this but also the smaller things. It is "theatrical" in nature because they are trying to show something in a visual way, even though it is not like typical acting; it is like pantomiming. No talking just all movement. The flags and music gave the performance some form of drama or suspense.
4. The element that stood out most for me of Frameworks was the overall tempo of the performance. It was so intense, I thought something bad was going to happen, but they pulled it off with style and grace. The element that stood out the most for The Machine was the fact that everything was precise. They made it look so smooth and as if they had put no effort into it.

1) There are many theatrical elements in these videos. Visual Painting, however, is probable the most noticeable. The members of the Cavaliers paint many pictures. Many shapes and designs are portrayed in these videos. The band members move with swiftness and ease. They paint pictures of different actions. They expand and contract like a rubber band.

The stamina and physical fitness required provides peak performance. The biggest demand though would probably be mental toughness. Concentration would be a must. One small error can result in one bumping into a fellow band member. Memorizing every movement would be a very tedious, trying thing to accomplish.
3) The dedication and energy involved is tremendous. One must devote hours of practice to this. These videos are theatrical in that they portray drama-like patterns. The presentation is precise and entertaining. There are vibrant colors much like a play on stage.
4) In Frameworks, the element that stands out the most is the précis timing of the instrumental playing. The band members are in rhythm with one another and sound perfect. The drum players are particularly good. With the amount of drum players, it is incredible to hear how in tune they are with each other. In the Machine, what stands out the most is the choreography. It is amazing to think of how much practice in movement is needed in order to pull of this feat. Everyone must work in one fluid movement in order to accomplish the goal. Bothe Frameworks and the Machine are very impressive feats.

ReplyDelete1. There are many elements of theater shown in these two pieces. There were multiple instances where part of their choreography involved moving their body into a different position, or just simply moving parts of their body. By doing this, they were allowed to "paint" a picture for anyone that was watching from a higher view. I've been to a number of football games where the bands perform at halftime, but I've never seen anything like this. The depth and tail of their choreography is amazing.
2. The main problem choreographers run into when doing these pieces must be memory problems. After time, things start to become more of second nature, but that beginning phase of learning must be very difficult. The lung capacity for these performers must be next to none. One of the more marvelous things about the performances was that they could move around like they did, play an instrument at the same time, and not miss a beat. Band performers aren't always thought to be the biggest "athletes", but for these pieces, I imagine the performers went through a lot of training.
3. The highest level of dedication must be involved for someone to perform at their level. Just like with any sport, dedication, proper work ethic, and a great deal of energy must be involved in order for the performance to come out this amazing. The reason it is so "theatrical" is because it is a performance. It is an choreographed piece that is performed in front of an audience in order for their entertainment. Throughout the entire piece, there are multiple examples of patterns, color, etc that play a role in how the piece is perceived.
4. In Frameworks, the most recognizable element was the ability for the performers to get in specific positions. The patterns in which they placed their bodies was the most noteworthy part of Frameworks. The movement from 2:40 to 3:25 was simply spectacular. In The Machine, movement was also the biggest element, but this time it was more of the actions of the interpretive dancers in blue. They really set the tone from the beginning what the piece was all about.

I must agree with the idea that the whole routine just seems impossible. When I watched it, I caught myself wondering if they were really doing it or if it was doctored in any way. Like I said in my piece, I have seen many performances, but none of the ones I have seen were half as good as that one.
The machine was an outstanding performance. The sheer ability to perform such an act was astounding. There were a group of people, a drum corps, truly and sincerely dedicated to what they did. There had a large degree of professionalism in memorizing every step they had to take and movement that had to perform. They were too a point almost too perfect in their movement. The stamina needed to perform such a task is quite impressive. Holding an instrument, walking, and playing all simultaneously is not an easy task by any means. It tests not only your body but your mental state as well. When doing the choreography for a performance like this memory is everything. Each member has to remember his exact part or else the performance is lost. This very fact contributes to the mental stress each musician has to go through. The ability of each member to get into certain positions provides the performances framework. The necessary talent to complete some of the tasks they did in the video coupled with the numerous hours of practice each member had to endure, resulted in a performance of a lifetime. But what stood out to me most was the ability each person had whether it be strength, stamina, or talent, each member had something that separated them from the ordinary member of a drum corps.

ReplyDeleteThose were amazing. The band members moved perfectly with each other. The things they did were almost like scenes, and they were really cool. They have to have good stamina because they were constantly moving. I'm sure they have to be strong to carry around the instruments the whole time. They have to remember each and every step while playing their instruments. If one of them messes up, the band looks bad. It takes a lot of teamwork to do something like that. I really appreciated how they worked together. People dedicate themselves to it because they love it. It's their passion. It's kind of theatrical because the band members have to learn the pieces to play, remember where to walk, and play at the same time. Everything has to be practiced over and over again, like a play. In Frameworks the the trumpets and instruments like that stood out the most. In the Machine, the drums stood out the most. All the drummers were perfect in the way they played and moved.

I completely agree. It was pretty astounding.
Theatrical performances are amazing works of art. They require lots of skills, patience, and most of all time. The people who perform in the act have to know what they are doing perfectly to pull off the act that they are preforming. It is unbelievable that music can be created out of almost every object if necessary. In the movie “Stomp”, which we watched yesterday, the actors showed that almost everything that you can find on the ground or around the house can be used to make music if the choreography and the precision are done correctly. There are several movies that involve amazing choreography and lots of the actors time to perfect their skills. The movie “Drumline” is a great example. It has over a hundred different people all performing in a giant band concert in a huge stadium. For the actors to complete this they had to spend hours upon hours of practicing and working on their precision and choreography. If done correctly, performances like this are next to perfect, the people who put on the show are skilled and have the time and patience to perfect it as much as possible. Theatrical performances are awesome works of art when done correctly and are absolutely fun to watch from the stands.

Some of them have on different costumes or uniforms from the other band members like the ones with the twirling which was pretty cool. What’s also pretty cool is that they are working the entire field. They have people covering both sides of the field and also the middle and also how they have their stationary instruments. ReplyDeleteYou have to remember where you are at all times on the field, because you can’t just be walking where ever you want out there our you’ll mess up the formation. It also takes a lot of physical strength because you have carry your heavy instruments all over the field and can’t let yourself being tired affect your playing so you have to being in shape, plus if you have a blowing instrument you have to keep your breathe so you have enough left while you’re walking the field.
I takes a great amount of dedication, just as much dedication as being on a sports team. In reality it is a team and it takes just as much practice and hard work. I think people connect to it because it is cool and not every is determined to be the best at an instrument. It is very organized and every everything is done perfectly just co-relating to everything else going on in the piece.
The element that stands out to me the most would be the uniforms and the formations that they perform and everyone is in sync with one another while playing they instruments and the twirling of the guns is just amazing in itself which just at a little bit of flare to the performance.
1) There is a lot of body movement and stiff, precise movements that make it look seamless.The flag wavers and xylophonists work well together, as do the riflemen. The instrument as a tool shows the time and effort put into these performances, and makes it look very good.

The patterns and colors in these works, and the special effects created by just the instruments and the transitions of movement make this look like there are more people than you would think doing this.
4) In Frameworks i liked the breakdown at 6 minutes with all of the tribal chants and dancing and the drum breakdown. in The Machine, i like the aspect of the controlled chaos and all the loud, high pitched instruments that somehow blend in.

ReplyDeleteThe theatrical elements I see vary. The coordination and memorization of all the actions that were used was incredible. The fact that drum group managed to do all of this without using voice was honestly just incredible the use of music as a “voice” as it was put has an effect on me that will not soon be forgotten. The very power of their music made me focus in on everything and enjoy all that was going on.
These works are challenging physically, because of the constant motion and movements that are going on. It is obvious that the drum corps obviously knows what they are doing and they are even more obviously in shape for this kind of action. It is challenging to their stamina because of all the actions that they have to perform and not only perform it but perform it well. It is challenging mentally to the drum corps because they have to memorize every movement that went on and perform it flawlessly.
An almost incomprehensible amount of dedication and energy is required in doing something like this. The reason why I think it is almost theatrical in nature is because of the uniformity of the members through movements and outfits but also I could see how each member helped the other and complimented the other.
The most appealing part of “Frameworks” was the rhythm and melody that the Cavaliers used to pull of the action. The most interesting part of “The Machine’ was the theme and robotic like actions used to entertain the crowd.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Colin Cody when he says that another reason the performance is entertaining is beacuse of their use and manipulation of the field and their thought into how to use every possible sound.
The theatrical performances in both of the videos were very well performed. It looked like the actors spent hours upon hours practicing and getting their part jam packed. Everything was very artistic and the movements almost looked robot like. The visuals were amazing, and the instrumental track was very creative.

After watching the videos, I had lots of respect for the actors involved because I knew that they dedicated lots of their life to this performance. The actors were very hard working and had lots of self-control to be able to accomplish such a feat so well.
My favorite part of frameworks was the patterns that the actors made. It looked so perfect that it almost didn’t look human. My favorite part of the machine was the dancers in the blue. It looked so great to me that it really made me respect dancers more.

I agree with what you said about the actor’s dedication. It really did look like they devoted a large amount of time to this performance.
Although the performance by a drum corps instead of stage actors involve the same if not more coordination and memorization is.They have more movement to remember and the entire field is the stage instead of a small area. The Cavaliers are known for their preperation and their performance is a indication of the work they must put in. These performanceshave many challanges I imagine that the toughest hurdle for choreographers is memory. It would require large amounts of time and practice to memorize these routines. This is absolutley a performance, although they are not on stage they still work their butts off to memorize and perform these routines. I liked the breakdown at six minute where they were chanting tribally.
ReplyDelete1) an aspect of the first band was their intricate costumes that they were wearing. Another is the choreography, they had very tight precise movements. You can tell much time and effort was put forth.
ReplyDelete2)The moves are extremely difficult looking and must take hours of practice or else i can see there being many mistakes made. Most of this is alot of muscle memory once they learn it.
3)Much energy and dedication is required in doing this. It is still a performance even though it is not on stavge. It requires hours of practice to perform. The performance has many patterns and repetitions to give it a artistic feel.
4)In the frameworks there is a portion that has many different chants and dancing and the drums add an extra feel to it.In The Machine, movement was also the biggest element, but it was more of the actions of the interpretive dancers in blue.
What I notice first is the actual shape forming of the march. The musicians are so in control of their bodies and aware of their surroundings that it almost looks like they aren’t going to make it through their small gap in time, but they always do. Their instruments lead people to get anxious and excited about their movements; using the combined audio and visual imagery they envelop their audience in their desired experience.
ReplyDeleteStamina is key here. For a nine minute march while playing a wind powered instrument, they have to be in excellent cardio-vascular shape. They must have had to do some serious conditioning to keep their voices and movements so sharp on the field. As for memory, to remember a 9 minute score is breathtaking. That requires countless hours of practice with their music, their movements, and finally putting both of them together. The preparation put into a routine has to be astonishing.
People connect to things that evolve right before their eyes. Seeing a show like this that includes two major senses of sight and sound really appeals to an audience. It’s theatrical because the musical score tells a story and the movements of the musicians help to lead the audience along in the story. The extra movements, the costumes, the different section solos, all of these things are seen as separate pieces to an overall larger experience.
Framework’s music stood out to me the most. The movements and shapes they formed were crisp and thought out, but seemed to be extra compared to what they did with their instruments. It was tight-fitting and planned, but it was well within the “Framework” of what a band should do.
Machine is the almost opposite, the music is there to accentuate the musicians march. The march was crisp and almost robotic in nature with the sound leading the audience along to the visual story. The gun line’s costumes were amazing and the way they were so precise with their movements astounded me.

I totally agree with you in seeing how much of a team oriented thing this is. The musicians count on the person next to them to be perfect. That has to be seriously nerve-racking. I know if it was me, I’m not sure I’d be able to count on another person to be just as good as I am on a musical selection.
I saw many theatrical performances in the videos. I saw a lot of pan mimes and precision movement. I felt like if this was on stage and they did not have any instruments than it would be considered a play or a musical. It basically was a musical without words and on a football field. They made every action noticeable by sound. When they were moving quickly they would play faster and when they were moving slow they would play softer. They were very precise on what they did and they made it feel like there was a story line when in fact there weren’t any words. It would be very challenging physically, mentally, and it would make a huge impact on the performer’s stamina. It would be very hard to memorize. They also would have to be in good shape to make it through the entire performance. So much energy is involved in this. They have to not only use their energy for their movements but also they put in a lot of energy on the practice the put in on their instruments. In frameworks the one thing that stands out to me is the different shapes they make. It is very interesting to watch and it seems very cool. The machine was pretty cool. The one thing that stood out to me was the accuracy and the perfection they showed.

1.Well I see that they rae both playing music. One is in a much different way The Machine are much more active in the directed part. The music shows a very power full part in what they are doing.
ReplyDelete2. It is how they are performed it makes you want to no what is going on and the actors are in to what they do and love to get in to it and do it so they no what they do very good in what they do.
3. The point of energy of this is not to give up and go for it to get everyone to get happy and all ancy so thay will yell and get wiled.
4. Well I think it is the way you do your skit and the way you move it is so cool to watch all of them move in a way that make something. But it is all a big ball of work that is to no where you r s sopost to go
The first thing i see when i watch these is of course the uniforms. but when they start really playing my concentration completely strayed from the uniforms to the playing and coreography. the coreography is absolutely amazing. to think of how much skill it takes to do this is overwhelming in itself not to mention that they have to play at the same time.watching this definitely makes you wonder what these people are doing to prepare for this and what they do at practice. i think it is absolutely amazing. i know i couldnt do that in a million years. it without a doubt takes alot of skill to do. also i was very impressed on how they made their playing match their movements. for instanc eif they were moving slow then they were playing that way as well. not too mention the cardio it takes to play for that long using all of your wind to play into your instrument and then moving constantly takes serious stamina.

1. i think the one part that would describe me the most would be the comidy. why because i use ually find my self doing somthing that makes people laugh even when im not trying to.

3.I would have to say that crying would be the hardest emotion for me to act out.
4. I would act the best if it was somthing to do with comedy.
5. Anything that involves making someone laugh i can do it farly well.

The first thing i notice would be how quickly they start moving from one position to another in almost perfect unison. I love how there are so many different aspects of color, sound and musical greatness. The coreography is absolutely incredible. To think of how much skill and time it takes to do this is overwhelming in itself and at the same time they have to play their instruments.

3. So many people connect with things such as these because your heart has to go out to people who dedicate and put forth so much time and effort into something you love. When you do things such as these then nothing but greatness can come forth from such an effort.
4. The element that i cannot get over is the fact that they play music and move at the same time that would be so hard to do because it takes energy and breathing to play an instrument but when you add non stop movement that could be very taxing on the brain and shows the peoplein the band arent just nerd they are people with athletic ability because im an athlete and couldnt do something like this.

ReplyDelete1.) What I saw while watching these is the uniformity of it all. all the movements and elements of each band member cordinated perfectly. Thier movements were procise and all in unison.
ReplyDelete2.) What makes these works so difficult is the fast past that the seemingly "human machine" works at. Being able to move quickly remember formations and play a musical piece all at the same time takes an enormous amount of skill. Just having the stamina to finish routine's like this is amazing.
3.) Is a great deal of hard work and dedication that need to be put in a ice like this. A lack of concentration could be detrimental to a performance. The formations that are formed to look like flowers add to the "theatrical nature" of the piece.
4.) The thing that stands out most to me in frameworks was the precise patterns and movements of the band members because it looks soo difficult to do. The thing that stood out to me most about the machine performance was thier elaborate movements and formations on the feild.
Hello Mr.Williams, in both of the performances, you see energy,passion,memorization,drama,costuming,and emotion. The instruments perform all the folowing emotions and passion.
ReplyDeleteFor each performance, it looks as if you should be in tip top shape and have perfect endurance and stanima to be able to continue performing throughout the event.
In order to have something so syncronized and macnificent like this, you have to have a group of dedicated people who trive to be nothing but perfect in each performance.Each persons body language shows the drama and what each event is leading to in the performance.
In frameworks, the perfection and how everyone was in sync with every part of the performance. You could tell what each person was doing and the emotion they showed was phenomenal.
In the machince performance, they made it to where the beginning show a struggle and it turned out to be somewhat humorous to me and the audience. The way they were in sync caught my attention also.
1. The theatrical elements that are present in this video are more artistic and creative than I have ever seen before the band uses different formations that other marching bands have not use and make the cavaliers very special. The visual paintings the cavaliers make in there work called the machine are crazy they display an image that seems as if the band is expanding like bubble gum.

I imagine that to learn something like this would take a lot of dedication and hard work and people who watch this understand that these musicians give a 100% percent at what they do and not a lot of people give them credit for that. This is so “theatrical’ because these people are putting on a show for an audience to entertain them to the best of their abilities so in a theatrical sense its impressive.
4. What I like about Frameworks the most was the music the played it was upbeat and catchy for everyone to enjoy. What I liked about the machine was there interesting formations and designs they made it was really clever.

1. The theatrical elements expressed in these performance are things the movement of every individual on the field in the performance has a set job or position that they have to do. If any of the performers are to fall out of place or mess up then the performance can be completely ruined or severly messed up. Another idea expressed in the performances is the visual display of artistic designs that are created by the performers bodies or instruments.
ReplyDelete2. The elements that make these performances difficult are mainly the memory and physical indurance that has to be maintained to be able to perform. With performances like this memory is major due to the fact that if any individual messes up their purpose in the performance the the entire effect of the performance on the audience may be ruined. With the physical aspect of the performance it is hard for so many individuals to keep at the same pase. If a person is unable to keep up then they simple arn't able to perform because the performance would be ruined.
3. People are drawn to performances like this because of the emotions that they bring for the audience. Just like all other types of artwork or designs they are created with the ambition of causing their views to feel some for of emotion because the art. In any form of art like these performance the creator can go in any direction that he or she please to make the performance because art is an infinant realm of creation.
4. The elements in the frameworks performance that stood out to me were the overall musical aspects of the performance. For the Machine performance the aspects that stood out to me were the dynamics and overall difference of idea in the performance for example with blue men/wemon in costumes running around on the field to give more a feel towards machine like qualities.
